Swooping Aussie magpies are scary! The birds swoop and attack during the spring time in Australia. After last spring's video where I 3D printed things to defend against the swooping birds, I received a bit of feedback from you all. So, here we have version 2.0 of bigger and better defenses made using 3D printing - all road tested against a real Swoopy Boi.

The experiment features new, improved versions of the cable ties, fake eyes and robotic bird. The new version of the Madpie 3000 features the form of a Peregrine Falcon with flapping wing action powered by a LiPo battery, brushed motor and helical gears attached to tie rods. The high powered CREE LEDs return for eyes and this time around the robot bird faces backwards because you all told me I was stupid! The future of Magpie attached prevention is now!

Printed on Creality CR-10 and Ender 3 Pro 3D printers using 3D Fillies PLA+ with 0.6 mm nozzle at 0.36 mm layer height (CR-10) for the big parts and with 0.4 mm nozzle at 0.2 layer height (Ender 3) for the smaller parts. The small or detailed parts were printed on a Creality ld-002r resin printer. Parts designed in DesignSpark Mechanical. Shot on Canon EOS M50, 360 video footage shot on Insta360 One R and action cam footage on Insta360 Go 2.
