How can we stand up for our wealth of scholarship - and resist those who would silence the truthful teaching of history - and of DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion)?

Both scholarship and lived experience demonstrate that systemic inequality (past and present) is real. To be 'woke' - and to 'stay woke" - we must teach, and learn, the full truth of history - at all grade levels, K through 12 through higher ed.

Education has become the site of backlash against transparency, as the accurate teaching of history, and our work for inclusion and belonging (for those of all races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, diversities of abilities, and socioeconomic classes) has come under public attack. Ms. Shelja Touri, for the graduate program in Diversity and Inclusion, discusses the realities of stratified disparities in New Jersey schools, and the resistance we must make against being silenced.
