The Gulf Stream - Earth's Lifeline: Part 2 | King of the Currents | Ocean Documentary

Watch 'The Gulf Stream - Earth's Lifeline: Part 1' here:    • The Gulf Stream - Earth's Lifeline | ...

In the second part of the documentary, the journey follows the Gulf Stream from the volcanic Azores over Brittany in France to the northwest of Ireland. From the Scottish Orkney Archipelago, it traces the Gulf Stream over Iceland to the Lofoten Islands in Norway.

The film accompanies a research vessel to the coast of Greenland. The filmmakers are present as deep-sea fish, traveling with the Gulf Stream, are equipped with transmitters, and they show how engineers are developing a new generation of high-tech buoys designed to study ocean currents to a depth of 4,000 meters.

They visit experimental gardeners in Ireland, as well as hardy cod fishermen in Norway, and meet archaeologists in northern Scotland who demonstrate that the Gulf Stream has influenced the settlement history of Europe since the Neolithic period. And in the middle of the North Atlantic, where the Gulf Stream plunges into the depths in huge waterfalls, scientists examine the impact of climate change on the current, which weakens due to the melting of the Greenland ice.
