The 2021 Kia Stinger boasts a striking design, plentiful interior space, maximum practicality, and the performance of a BMW. Without a doubt, this is the best new sedan for under $35,000. Lets clear up the confusing trim levels. Be prepared to hear the term “GT” a dozen times. The entry level model is called the Stinger GT-Line. Just above that is the Stinger GT. Next up you have the Stinger GT1 and the Stinger GT2.

The GT-Line is the only trim level that has a 2.0L turbo 4 cylinder producing 255 horsepower. All other models comes with a 3.3L twin turbo V6 producing up to 365 horsepower. While there is potential for plenty of power with an AWD option, it all comes at a hefty cost. $2,200 for the AWD options, along with the top of the line Kia Stinger GT2 elevates the total price tag over $50,000. A shocking price for a Kia, since you are now in BMW 5 series territory. Realistically, the 2021 Kia Stinger should be viewed as an inexpensive option for a car that offers it all, including a tremendous driving experience.

When it comes to design, the jury is out, and we have all come to see the Kia Stinger as one of the most handsome cars on the road for the last 4 years. Proportionally, it is nearly perfect for a hatchback style midsize sedan. Brilliant LED’s, a black chrome grille, stunning wheels, and an aggressive rear end have been a major hit (although it is due for a redesign, considering the 2022 model looks just about the same).

The brilliance of the Stinger cabin is not in the design, but in its practicality. You still have plenty of legroom and headroom (which is tough to achieve with such a sleek fastback design, just look at the Audi A7s failure to do so). The packaging of the Stinger is simply fantastic. In this price range, the Kia Stinger GT-Line is much cheaper than the BMW 3 series, the Mercedes Benz C Class, and the Audi A4. Although all of those cars are better in almost every way, the Stinger is not trying to compete with those. And affordable sedans such as the Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry are priced much lower than the Stinger GT, but cannot compete on any level with the Kia. In other words, the 2021 Kia Stinger is not trying to compete with any of these. It has cemented its place in the sub 30k price range and I cannot think of a better car to buy for that price.
