1925 was the Indio Depot's heyday with 16 passenger days daily. This was at a time one could get to Los Angeles in three hours by rail and a wagon trip to nearby Mecca could take all day. In the summer months, ice was brought down from Truckee Ca. to cool the passenger cars.
