Two years ago today I was headed from Texas to Iowa to see a concert by Damon Dotson. While driving up Interstate 35 in Austin, a drunk driver came out of nowhere and hit me at close to 100mph. I flipped and rolled and slid down the interstate upside down for what felt like 10 minutes. I just remember thinking "oh my God I am still alive". Everyone else involved was majorly injured and I literally walked away without a scratch. (So this post isn't for pity, because literally nothing happened to me).

I missed my flight to Iowa so I booked a flight home. I sat down in the airport to try and settle down. I put my AirPods in and turned on my music and sure enough the next song that was cue'd up to play in my car before I wrecked was a song by Damon Dotson MUSIC called Glad To Be Alive.

I loved the song before the wreck but it really gripped me deep in my core while sitting in the airport that day that maybe I never really listened to the song like I should. I had never at any other point in my life been so glad to be alive and I decided that day to never forget it.

Fast forward to July of last year and I finally made it to Iowa to see Damon's famous Lake Affect concert on the water in Lake Okoboji Iowa. I met Damon and Jeff Carlson at 5AM to start filming the entire day and it's one of my most memorable days of my entire life.....not only because it was epic fun but I never lost sight of the fact that I am still so glad to be alive. Nothing has bothered me much since that day two years ago and nothing ever will.

This video is all mine. It's just a fun edit I did for me. Not for Damon. Not for a paid client. For the first time maybe ever I did a video for just whatever I wanted to do with it. Damon may not even like it and I don't care lol.
