Earlier this month, GM decided to kill the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV impacting over 1,300 workers just before the holidays. Ugggh. Technically, they claim they are putting production of this car on hold until they can port it over to the Ultium platform sometime in 2025. In this video, I rent a Bolt EUV from Hertz and provide my first impressions and driving review of this car. I compare it to the regular Bolt EV a bit, and also compare trim levels & pricing etc. It's truly a sad thing that this great little car has been put out to pasture for a redesign just as they starting to increase in sales this past year after the battery crisis hurt the reputation of the brand. Even though the Bolt name was marred because of historical fire hazards due to faulty batteries in the Bolt EV (not EUV's) which triggered software fixes in some cases, and corporate buy backs of customer cars in others, this Bolt EUV is a great car that should be on your short list as a daily driver. It's biggest fault has always been the slow DC Fast Charging of only 55 kW. But, once you look past that limitation, there is a LOT of good here in this affordable package.
