Hey guys, I’ve decided to record another version of this standard since the one I did on the 1937 Gibson Super 400 was one of the very first acoustic standards, so hopefully the playing should be better on this one. The standard is called « East of the sun » and was composed in 1934 by Brooks Bowman.

I’m playing a 1942 D’Angelico Excel (17 inches, parallel braced, short scale), with D’Addario Flatwound strings gauge 12. I’m using a Dunlop gator 0.71mm pick and the sound is captured by a DPA 4099g, a Neumann TLM 103 and a Bluebird microphone.

Feel free to support the channel if you want/can : www.paypal.me/acousticstandards

I've decided to take a couple of students for online classes so hit me up if you're interested. Contact and info : [email protected]

I haven't recorded albums in the style of those acoustic standards, but i have 2 albums on bandcamp with my Django tribute Quartet : https://romainvuilleminquartet.bandca...
The third one "Three sides of a Coin" is just out, so don't hesitate to drop me an email if you'd like a physical copy, i can ship worldwide !!

I may be considering recording a physical album with these acoustic standards as some of you have asked for it, but as printing cds is being a bigger quest year after year, please drop me a message if you think it's a good idea or if you'd like to preorder one or give suggestions etc.
I also have a youtube channel for the Django stuff with my 4tet :    / @romainvuillemin

I’m always looking get my guitar collection to evolve so don’t hesitate to drop me an email if you’re selling your vintage archtop or if you want to trade etc.
