Through generous donations from Waterloo Engineering donors on Giving Tuesday in 2022, our students have a Dodge Caravan to drive them to design competitions across North America. Over the past six months, the van has taken students on epic journeys, carrying teams and their gear across great distances from Waterloo to Buffalo and Quebec, to Ottawa and New Mexico, to Pennsylvania and Massachusetts – not to mention getting them to the airport on time for travel to Texas and California. In total, 104 students covered a staggering 13,000 kilometres travelling to world competitions in eight locations across North America. Thank you for fuelling our students’ ambitions!

Waterloo Engineering’s Student Design Teams showcase interdisciplinary innovation at its best. More than 24 teams of students from all engineering disciplines, as well as from other faculties across campus, work together to ideate, create and take part in competitions. It's an extraordinary extracurricular experience that offers the students opportunities to travel, work, change the world and make lifelong friendships. These teams are completely self-funded and donations from donors helps them pay for equipment, materials, registration fees and allow them to compete on the global stage.
