It is a win-win situation if these big tech companies know how to contribute upstream, and Open Source projects can work with this new blood to tackle common tech problems. Willem will share the story of engaging with big tech companies in China through the Apache Local Community. By holding ApacheCon Asia and mentoring podling projects for years, we (Apache Local Communities in China) build good connections with the OSPOs of big tech companies in China.

Willem Jiang is the Open Source Evangelist of ByteDance, board director of the Apache Software Foundation. He worked on many Apache projects like Camel, CXF, ServiceMix and ServiceComb. Before joining ByteDance, Willem was the Open Source technical expert at Huawei. He also worked for RedHat, FuseSource, IONA and Travelsky.inc.
