The richness of the English language and the sound of it, when spoken with an intent to transmit multiple layers of meaning through the words to receptive minds, should be a joy forever. In the 20th century theaters rang with the sound of this majesty through voices that represented an apex of delivery in a classic style that is in danger of being forgotten. Where now are the ringing tones of delivery once employed by Laurence Olivier, John Gielgud, Richard Burton and the like? The artistic glories of western civilization, such as architecture and classical music are now being declared redundant by those who would reshape the world into empty forms of soulless conformity. May this recording serve as a gauntlet, flung into the face of 21st Century cultural mediocrity, to re- awaken a collective ear of listening to the fruits of our artistic heritage - and guide us towards a beauty through which they can enrich our lives through the written and spoken word.
