Professor Tom Jones of the University of St. Andrews joined President Hamza Yusuf for the August session of the First Command Book Club to discuss Alexander Pope’s An Essay on Man. Professor Jones, a scholar of 18th century literature and philosophy, produced the brilliant annotated edition of the book that members read this summer. In this session, book club members enjoyed an enriching conversation between the two scholars on Pope’s commentary on the meaning and mysteries of life and the human experience.
