Hey everyone, welcome to Professor Mad ! Today, we have an incredible journey ahead as we dive into the world of IMAX technology.

IMAX, short for Image Maximum, is an advanced film projection system developed in the late 1960s. The primary goal was to provide audiences with an immersive and larger-than-life cinematic experience.

A standard IMAX theater has a huge rectangular screen. A typical IMAX screen is 16 meters high by 22 meters wide, but they can be even larger! In fact, the largest IMAX screen measures a jaw-dropping 30 meters (98 feet) in height.

Imagine standing next to an eight-story apartment building that is wider than it is tall. That's how big the screen is! It is many times larger than the screen at a normal movie theater.

The screen is large enough to fill your field of vision. By doing this, the screen gives you an incredible feeling of immersion. There is nothing outside the film to distract your attention.

IMAX cameras have the capability to shoot at much higher resolutions compared to traditional 35mm film or digital cameras. Let's take a closer look at the incredible resolutions achieved by various formats, from HD to IMAX.

HD or 720p provides 1280 x 720 pixels of resolution, while Full HD or 1080p gives us 1920 x 1080 pixels. Moving up to 4K Ultra HD, we get an impressive 4096 x 2160 pixels, and 8K Ultra HD delivers a staggering 7680 x 4320 pixels. But the pinnacle of resolution is IMAX's 18K, boasting a jaw-dropping 25740 x 18000 pixels!

These higher resolution provide a more immersive and detailed viewing experience

Director Christopher Nolan recently revealed "Oppenheimer" is his longest film yet. Now, we know just how long the film is — literally. The movie is set to run in 30 IMAX theaters, and the reel of 70mm film is a whopping 11 miles long, Nolan told The Associated Press. It also weighs 600 pounds.
