Are Hawaii public schools as bad as some people make them out to be? As someone who went to both private and public school in Hawaii, I wanted to talk about how I learned about Hawaii's public education firsthand. More importantly, I wanted to talk about how my view of public school kids changed when I became one of them. Despite the relatively low proficiency test scores coming out of Hawaii's public schools, I still believe that public schools in Hawaii provide valuable lessons that help later in life.
