The HKUST x France Panel “Green Finance: The Way Forward” was concluded successfully with a full house of students, alumni and industry practitioners gathering at the campus on March 22 to learn about the latest trends of green and sustainable finance in the region!

A collaboration with the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, the French Chamber in Hong Kong and Société Générale, the event was organized in the framework of the France – HKUST Innovation Hub. Ms. Christile Drulhe, Consul-General of France in Hong Kong and Prof. Yang Wang, HKUST Vice President for Institutional Advancement kickstarted the event by delivering Welcome Remarks, followed by the expert panel featuring Prof. Véronique Lafon-Vinais, Co-Director of BSc in Sustainable & Green Finance program at HKUST Business School, Mr. Ronald Young, Head of Sustainable Finance Asia of Global Banking and Advisory at Société Générale, Ms. Kristy Wong, Associate Director of ESG Investment Specialist at Amundi and Prof. Quentin Moreau, Assistant Professor of the Division of Environment and Sustainability at HKUST. The discussion explored the strengths and limits of the tools available to make finance achieve sustainable goals.

Our students also gained tips in pursuing studies in France and career prospects in the green and sustainable finance industry by meeting some 30 industry professionals from 6 French financial institutions, including Societe Generale, BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole CIB, Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking, Amundi and AXA Investment Managers.
