Hostalric is a rare example of a medieval city that is still intact in its layout. The city walls still contain the small homes, and even orchards and vineyards were protected by city walls.

Most of the medieval cities in Europe have had their walls removed (people often scavenged the stone from them for their homes, and then the resulting land is often replaced with rail lines.)

Hostalric is neat in that it is how it would have been 1,000 years ago.

There are several flats for sale in the walls... and in looking at them.. they literally had 6-foot-thick walls... Yeah... try getting wifi in your flat.

It is an experience to see a city that is STILL as cities were 1,000 years ago... To walk the streets, get a wine and cheese.... Hostalric is a cool experience.
