Need is a film communicating a human need for intimacy and companionship. The film starts with a woman having a connection with the male mannequin in the store, where she is working as a sales girl. She is in need, feels jealous but doesn't have the guts to make a companionship a reality. She is too shy to accept her needs and is comfortable having a relationship with the mannequin as he is her imagination, thus there is no element of surprise, space for anxiety and there is confidentiality. Thus she feels safe in that relationship.

Afterwards, when the mannequin has been taken away by the store, she is devastated, heart broken and gets an anxiety attack….
The film ends with her finally asking for a hug, voicing her need at the moment to her roommate's boyfriend.
