We’ll do a detailed Kelley Blue Book review of the 2021 Ford F-150 First Drive soon but for now, I’m gonna see how this thing drives in a variety of trucky settings. For those who didn’t see our excellent F-150 First Look video here’s a quick reminder.

The 2021 Ford F-150 is all-new, even if stylistically, it doesn’t look it. A 10-speed automatic transmission is now standard across the lineup and there are 6 engines. There's got a 3.3L V6 (290hp, 265lb-ft), a 2.7L EcoBoost V6 (325hp, 400lb-ft), a 5.0L naturally-aspirated V8 (400hp, 410lb-ft), a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 (400hp, 500lb-ft), a 3.0L V6 diesel (250hp, 440lb-ft), and a new 3.5L PowerBoost V6 Hybrid (430hp, 570lb-ft).

The revised Ford F-150 does an admirable job as daily transportation and its smooth-riding nature pays dividends when venturing off-road Of course, there are other more off-road-focused variants to come but for simple dirt duty, the F-150 is a comfortable, competent player.

When towing, the F-150 can haul up to 14,000 pounds with the optional 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine. During our test, the 3.5-liter towed 8,000 pounds worth of boat with confidence.

Driving the 2021 Ford F-150 was a lovely time but there is so much stuff we haven’t discussed yet including bed functionality, zone lighting, lane centering, and other active driver assists, the optional folding drive selector, and flip out center console work area, these fold-flat seats and a bunch of other stuff. There’s plenty left to discuss but, at least where driving behavior is concerned, the latest F-150 is off a promising start.
