“Ang inyong misyon ay higit pa sa paglilingkod at pangangalaga sa mga kababayan natin. Kayo ang tutulong sa pagsusulat ng isang bagong yugto para sa Bangsamoro, tungo sa mas tahimik at matiwasay na kinabukasan,” said President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. after leading the Graduation Ceremony of the Bangsamoro Police Basic Recruit Course (BPBRC) Batch 2023-01 Classes Alpha-Bravo ‘BAKAS-LIPI,’ marking a significant milestone for the Bangsamoro Region.

Speaking before the 100 graduating trainees comprised of former Moro combatants from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), the President expressed his pride and joy as he lauded the success of the recruits and acknowledged the importance of their forthcoming service to the nation.

He also praised them for their chosen batch name of ‘BAKAS-LIPI’ which stands for ‘Bangsamoro Kapulisan, Sandigan ng Lipunang Pilipino,’ highlighting that their lives are comparable to thrilling and action-packed stories, filled with lessons and narrative of resurgence.

With the completion of their 23-week training, President Marcos Jr. reminded them of the heavy responsibilities they now bear, including the mission that goes beyond maintaining peace and order. He encouraged them to be representatives of order and transformation, striving to leave a legacy for future generations.

Concluding his remarks, the President offered four (4) pieces of advice to the graduates: to uphold their integrity, maintain courage and determination in the face of challenges, continually improve their skills and understanding of the law, and to remain true and faithful to their duties with the full support of the government behind them.

“Naniniwala ako na sa paglago ng Bangsamoro, yayabong din ang buong bansa. Mas madali nating makakamit ang ating hinahanap na Bagong Pilipinas,” President Marcos Jr. said in closing his message.

Following the issuance of the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Resolution No. 2022-0081, a total of 11,033 Moro combatants from the MILF and MNLF registered in the NAPOLCOM Special Qualifying Eligibility (NSQE) for temporary appointment to the rank of Patrolman/Patrolwoman of the PNP. Of this number, 7,145 applicants comprised of 4,962 MILF and 2,183 MNLF members passed the exam.

The PNP has allotted 400 slots for the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) Calendar Year (CY) 2023 quota. In the first batch, only 102 applicants successfully completed the recruitment process and underwent the six-month-long BPBR training. Today, the PNP welcomes 100 new patrolmen and patrolwomen of ‘BAKAS-LIPI’ Class with another 294 successful applicants to fill the 2nd batch of police trainees.
