In 1965 Judy Garland was hired to guest host an episode of The Hollywood Palace. The show went well and was enthusiastically received. Producers referred to Judy as a "dream to work with". Things didn't go so well when she was invited to return in 1966. At the time her house was in foreclosure, she had been served divorce paper, etc, and times were not good for Judy Garland. The strain of it all finally got to Judy between the dress rehearsal for the show and the taping of the broadcast version. The taping went on as planned, but without Judy. Editors later spliced her dress rehearsal performance into the broadcast version to make a complete program. Presented here is Judy's final song, By Myself. Even though it's only a rehearsal Judy still invests emotion and energy into the song and gives us a thrilling rendition.
