I've been using single-suction cup mounts for years and they've always made me nervous because there's no backup in case the suction fails. Additionally, I've often needed more distance between the car and my camera. So, last week I bought the Delkin Fat Gecko on Amazon:

I had not tried it out yet, so I thought I'd run some tests to see how it performs on different types of terrain with different types of cameras. In this test I use my DJI Osmo Action, Sony RX100 VII, and Canon 7D Mark II on both off-road and on-road terrain.

What I learned is that the Fat Gecko mount is much more rigid and sturdy than I had expected, and it works incredibly well with small action cameras like the Osmo Action. With heavier cameras like my Canon DSLR the ball joints are put to their limits.
