17 July 2014 saw the press launch for the BFI's latest blockbuster season - SCI-FI: DAYS OF FEAR AND WONDER. BFI Creative Director Heather Stewart took to the stage to explain why we have chosen to focus on Sci-Fi, and to discuss the big ideas behind a genre which has come to define the cinematic experience for audiences everywhere. Our expert panel led by Matthew Sweet and featuring Professor Brian Cox, Helen Lewis and Roger Luckhurst talked science fiction, science fact, philosophy, fandom and high/low culture. In the post-launch reception Storm Troopers guarded artefacts from Special Collections and special guests from Thunderbirds made an appearance.
