When Jeremy Fry asked Dyson to build a high speed landing craft for him, Dyson knew nothing about hydrodynamics. Initially built of fibreglass, the boat was brittle like an egg shell, so Dyson put a steel frame around it, giving it robustness.
With Fry he learnt to design on the edge, to produce a product and then to market it. He learnt about rejection, the thrill of selling and he learnt from Fry's enthusiasm, that he could do anything if only he persisted.
