One Monday in 1970, Herb gets a call from Buddy Martin, co-owner of the famous race team Sox & Martin. By Wednesday he moves to North Carolina ready to hit the ground running in the big leagues. During his years driving for Sox & Martin, Herb sets numerous speed records and earns several national titles, including the first-ever Pro Stock Championship at the 1970 NHRA U.S. Nationals at Indy. By the time Sox & Martin closes its shop in 1974, Herb has made an enduring mark on drag racing and etched his name into the drag racing history books.
