When people first hear about MMT there's a tendency to think that advocates are saying that the government should just spend infinitely, because there are no limits. But this is not what MMT says at all. MMT doesn't tell us there are no limits to government spending. It simply says that the limits aren't where we thought they were, and shows us where the limits really are.
MMT doesn't want the government to ignite rocket fuel in the government spending machine. MMT advocates just want government, and the people who vote for them to understand what the true limits are so that we're not held back by mistaken beliefs and waste opportunities to improve our living standards.
