Summited June 23, 2020. This is a class 3 alternative to the standard route on La Plata Peak. Not the hardest ridge out of the Colorado 14ers, but its definitely going to be a long day. I planned this summit the evening before, hold me to any trail beta. This route does require a LOT of route finding, and down climbing.
______
After summiting via the ridge, I highly recommend hiking down the standard route. Please pay attention to the weather, as there isn't much for a bail out on this route. I had storm clouds rolling in from the west. Since most of the "trail" is on the east side of the ridge, it was impossible to see how bad the storm was building up.
______
Not a hard climb, but there are plenty of loose rocks and scree. Please wear a helmet!
