Mission Description:
The year is 1999 and the USS Theodore Roosevelt carrier group is deployed in the persian gulf for 33 days of combat at the tail end of the No-Fly zone conflict in IRAQ (1991-2003). The Carrier Air Group aboard is CAG-8, which includes two A-model tomcat squadrons, VF-14 and its sister squadron VF-41. There are multiple friendly assets in the area both from USAF and USN.

The “Teddy” carrier group is aiding in the enforcement of the Iraq NO FLY ZONE. The Iraqi Air Force has repeatedly over the past few weeks made incursions South of the NO FLY ZONE. The US planned a retaliatory strike against an Air-Command center North of the NO FLY ZONE. The target is a Big Deeply rooted bunker the size of a football field outside of the city of AL-ASAD (Shiraz).

The strike will be conducted by 2 VF-14 F-14As Deep North of the NO FLY ZONE line. The target is a major Air command center bunker outside of AL-ASAD(SHIRAZ). Also, 4 F/A-18C will drop ordinance on the nearby airfield to disable the enemy’s capabilities to intercept the strike package and 4 More F/A-18C will escort the strike package providing Close CAP support in case of any unexpected enemy planes that might be in the air.
