The House reconvened today after Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) fell short of receiving 217 votes to win the speakers gavel Wednesday afternoon. Rep. Jim Jordan lost more support than on Wednesday for the speaker's gavel in a 210 to 194 vote with 25 members voting for others. He lost 20 Republican votes in the first round, 22 in the second round, and 25 in the third round:
Jeffries: 210
Jordan: 194
Scalise: 8
McHenry: 6
Zeldin: 4
McCarthy: 2
Donalds: 2
Emmer: 1
Garcia: 1
Westerman: 1
Four members did not vote: Reps. Wesley Hunt (R-TX), Derrick Van Orden (R-WI), Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX) and Donald Payne (D-NJ), meaning 215 votes are needed to win the gavel.
