This week Nile's behind the wheel of the 2023 Honda Passport TrailSport AWD, the mid-trim for the Canadian market, and one that Honda hopes will spark a new line of off-road oriented vehicles. The Passport comes well equipped at this price-point, including all of Honda's safety technology as standard equipment even on the base trim, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, parking sensors, and a backup camera.

Nile goes over the technical specifications of the 2023 Honda Passport TrailSport and how it compares to the Honda Ridgeline we drove the week prior. This mid-size two-row crossover uses the same SOHC i-VTEC V6 engine producing 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, and has the same 5,000 lb tow rating. Honda says the TrailSport's AWD and torque vectoring systems are tuned for off-road use, and the all-terrain Firestone tires help with trail travel, although the TrailSport is mostly an appearance package.

We then take this Passport on the road to talk about how it drives, rides, and handles, and some of the reasons why you'd want to consider this vehicle. There's a lot of competition in the mid-size crossover segment, these vehicles offer more storage and passenger comfort over the smaller CR-V without the enormous bulk and third row of seating found on the Pilot.
