Many people who experience novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have mild symptoms. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case for Steve Padilla, who contracted the virus in March and was intubated for 11 days.

Padilla, a 52-year-old city councilman for Chula Vista, describes his experience surviving COVID-19 and how the teams at UC San Diego Health helped save his life. His daughter, Ashleigh Padilla, also shares what it was like to have her father in an intensive care unit and not be able to visit him. Both father and daughter warn that this virus is a very real disease that shouldn't be taken lightly.
