A brilliant day of sporting caving with friends in a natural cave system known as 'Sally's Rift'. Sally's rift is the 2nd longest Gull Cave Network in Britain and makes for an energetic day out!

*Charles A. Self (not a relation as far as Im aware) wrote about Sally's Rift and described it as such: "The cave has three entrances, located close together in a small cliff well-hidden in dense scrubby woodland. The middle entrance is the only one large enough for visitors of normal build and leads directly to a pitch of 8m. A large gull passage, Main Rift, is entered and a devious route can then be followed to the North and East to reach the rest of the Cave. Most passages are of the order of 10-12m tall and 30-60cm wide, but the caving is strenuous with the need for much climbing. The total length of the cave is 350m, which makes it Britain's second longest gull network."

Please do consider that this system, more so the the second half (after the 2nd roped pitch) is not for the faint of heart or the inexperienced - some of the squeezes are tough to negotiate, navigation can be difficult and the consequences of suffering an injury in the later parts of the system especially, would be much more severe - including the potential need for assistance from Cave Rescue to extract even a slightly impaired casualty.

This video took a full day to edit together after some trouble processing the footage so I hope you all enjoy it as much as we enjoyed the day out, my apologies I couldn't get it posted sooner! It's been a great trip to document - this is one of my favourite local systems and I've visited it quite a number of times over the years, every time feels special and gives a good level of satisfaction!

Cave safe out there folks! This is a brilliant sport, lets all keep enjoying it in a responsible and sustainable way!
