After two weeks of top-trim Volvos, it's time for TestDrive to look at something a little more cost-effective from the Swedish luxury brand.

Our Spotlight is on the 2019 Volvo XC90 T6 Momentum. This three-row mid-size luxury crossover is positioned to compete directly with the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE. The XC90 we have is the entry-level trim offered in Canada, and sports the 2.0L twin-charged inline-4 engine good for 316 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.

Our full tour and review of the 2019 Volvo XC90 goes in depth with the important features and options selected on this vehicle, representing what a vast majority of buyers might be considering if they're in the market for this type of crossover. We explain the exterior design and features such as Volvo's Iron Mark, the front adaptive LED headlights with LED fog lamps and cornering lights, headlight washers, integrated wiper washers, power folding mirrors, keyless access, and power opening rear lift gate.

We jump in the front of this mid-size crossover to talk about the front heated seats, optional carbon black leather upgrade, IntelliSafe safety technology, PilotAssist semi-autonomous driving mode, panoramic sunroof, portrait mode infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and SiriusXM radio. We discuss some of the design and trim changes over the Inscription models we've featured from Volvo before.

We jump in the centre row to talk about the features found back there such as quad zone climate control, and the optional outboard heated seats through the cold weather package. We also take a look at the trunk seating to see if the 7 passenger configuration is good for larger families, or those looking for additional cargo room.

TestDrive also takes the XC90 T6 Momentum on a comprehensive road test including a 0-100km or 0-60mph test, and talk about how we found this vehicle to handle and perform on the road. We also criticize Volvo's automatic stop-start system on their non-hybrid vehicles.

We wrap up this episode of TestDrive Spotlight on the 2019 Volvo XC90 T6 Momentum with our rundown of likes and dislikes for this vehicle, and some insight for the winter season here on TestDrive.
