Bonjour Friends! Thank you for tuning in to a new video this week where I’m sharing with you how I manage our free-standing kitchen. We absolutely love it and have been quite surprised with how well we get on in this room without having counter space surrounding our sink or stove! That’s because our large kitchen table / workbench handles everything we need. It’s basically a large island that leaves plenty of space for preparing, drying, eating and for my everyday decor bits.

The marble backsplash was found at an Emmaus that we had cut at a local stone factory. The other half was salvaged and is being used as sort of catch all or as a cutting board. Ideally we would love to find the same marble slab to use as a back splash for our stove. We made the mistake of using mat paint instead of satin so the back of the wall has oil splatter that we can’t clean off. So a backsplash would be ideal for the future.

I honestly feel that not having cabinetry limits me from filling the space and that’s a huge bonus for me being that I don’t fair very well with clutter or what I feel are “too many extra things.” I bring less food home from the market and I utilize the already in place utensils or items I have instead of using various “gadgets.” It’s harder work, but a space saver for us.

I’m so happy in this space! It’s calming, soothing and easy to clean. I really enjoy being in here.
