This was my first solo flight in a Cessna 182 and years since I had flown solo. I planned a short flight with my daughter from Manassas (KHEF) to New Market (8W2) to get a little communication and navigation experience in and out of the DC SFRA, but the weather was not cooperating. For days the ceilings hovered around 1500 feet making the VFR flight out of the question. As the flight time approached it looked like the ceilings might make pattern work a possibility so I headed out to the airport alone. I think I was more nervous for this flight than my first solo at age 16 and at the same time eager and excited to get back in the air.
