The Mazda CX-5 Skyactiv D or diesel is finally here. I decided to take it on a mileage run from Vancouver to Whistler to see if I could get the posted fuel rating or maybe even beat them?
After many years of delay, the Mazda CX-5 Skyactiv D or Diesel is here. This new compact SUV has room for 5-passengers and is only sold with the Signature trim. The Mazda CX-5 Diesel has a 2.2L Skyactiv D engine with 168hp but 290lb.-ft. of torque at jut 2000RPM. The new Mazda CX-5 Diesel is rated at 8.6L/100km combined City and Hwy or 27MPG. The CX-5 diesel has a tow rating of 3500lbs compared to the gasoline version plus it comes with two years of free maintenance in the Canadian market and buyers get a $300 credit for accessories like a block heater for cold areas. With GM announcing that they will stop selling the Equinox and Terrain diesel models after 2019, leaves the Mazda Cx-5 diesel as the only non-premium vehicle sold in North America with a diesel engine
