Observation Hill in Antarctica is an iconic 223m high remnant volcanic cone near Scott Base/McMurdo Station. It's a great walk and spectacular viewpoint of the surrounding landscape. It's also a great place to check out geological features like glacial striations and lava bombs. A memorial cross commemorating Captain Scott and his team who never made it back from their epic journey to the South Pole, stands at the top, created by his remaining companions before they returned home.

With thanks to Antarctica New Zealand videographer Anthony Powell for use of some of his camera drone video clips. See his channel    / @antzkiwi   for some more great footage of life on the ice at Scott Base.
