The dog days of summer have arrived at the off grid tiny cabin. With temperatures breaking 90 degrees I need to plan the hardest work around the coolest part of the day. When all else fails, a cool dip in a crystal clear spring fed lake is just what it takes to me me feel brand new. These scorching days are not much fun to work in but I'm reminded that fall is arriving quickly. Lazy summer days are good for the soul but I need to be mindful to keep on task. Slow and steady is the key to progress.

In this video I continue the harvest of logs that I will use on the log building, cutting, hauling and peeling another batch. I finally replace the starter on my old lawn tractor. No more shorting the solenoid to get it running. I see my first wolf on the property. I've always known they were in the area but had never seen one in person until now. While working in the yard a commotion alerted me to the woods in time to see a timberwolf chasing a coyote straight at me!! The coyote came within 10 feet while the wolf hung back away from the clearing. Blood spots told a tale of an unpleasant encounter between the two canines. Luckily River was in the van napping or he may have been the next victim of the wolf. I guess it's time to keep the gun handy. River is a big dog but he is no match for an adult timberwolf.
