Harbor Freight 10 ton manual log splitter works well for the most part. Can handle logs a little over 19” or 48 cm from the factory and has a stroke of about 10” or 25.4 cm.

From the factory the wedge is dull and rounded over. Splitting hard wood, or your wood with twisting or curly grain is a problem.

This is a test to see if improving the wedge can improve the speed, effort, or capability.

All the wood in the video hasn’t been down 10 days so green and wet. Tree has multiple fungi so need to dry the wood quickly to kill them off to preserve the wood. All of this was cut with a DeWalt 20Vmax chainsaw with an Oregon 14” chain and bar.

Doesn’t need electricity or fuel and its cheap compared to a powered log splitter. Has good capacity and can be operated anywhere, any time. Perfect for a backup log splitter or when you only have a small amount of logs to split like typically we do. Downside is it can be a workout especially with the dull and rounded factory wedge.

This video is supplied for entertainment purposes only. Exceeding the capacity of a log splitter can cause damage to the equipment or operator!
