The Ḥawqala Zikir A Priceless Treasure / Ḥawqala Doa

The Ḥawqala (Arabic: الحوقلة‎) is an Arabic word referring to the statement lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh (In Arabic written as "لا حول ولاقوة إلا بالله") which is usually translated as "There is no might nor power except in Allah." This expression is mentioned by a Muslim whenever seized by a calamity or in a situation beyond their control. The word Ḥawqala is a portmanteau (or naḥt) of the words ḥawla and quwwata.

is a very effective means of beseeching Allah’s help and it has a lot of power in it as it is one of the treasures of paradise.

Some authentic Hadeeths were narrated on the virtue of saying "La hawla wala quwwata illa billaah (There is no might and power but that of Allaah)." For instance, the Prophet, Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa Sallam, said to Abu Moosa Al-Ash‘ari may Allaah be pleased with him: "Should I guide you to a word which is one of the treasures of Paradise?” He replied in the affirmative. The Prophet, Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa sallam, said, “La hawla wala quwwata illa billaah." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

As regards the Hadeeth which reads: "It cures ninety-nine diseases the least of which is anxiety", it was narrated by At-Tabaraani may Allaah have mercy upon him and it is not authentic. Shaykh Al-Albaani may Allah have mercy upon him classified it as a Munkar Hadeeth.

About the Hadeeth of the bearers of the Throne, it was narrated by Abu Ash-Shaykh in “Al-‘Athamah”, and we did not find any scholar grading it as authentic or weak. However, the book of Al-‘Athamah is a book where weak Hadeeths are most likely to be found.

As for the Hadeeth in which the man, ‘Awf ibn Maalik Al-Ashja‘i may Allah be pleased with him lost his son, it was narrated by Ibn Abi Ad-Dunya and others, but Al-Albaani may Allah have mercy upon him classified it as Dha‘eef (weak) in Dha‘eef At-Targheeb wat-Tarheeb.

Also, we did not find the narration which combines between saying "La hawla wala quwwata illa billaah" and invoking a blessing upon the Prophet, Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa sallam, one hundred times before and after it.
