You can use a large fabric wick to grow many different plants in a self watering container. This versatile method can be use to grow vegetables and/or flowers on your porch or patio, under lights in your basement or in your hobby greenhouse, in partial shade or full sun. Just put your container in a location that is best for the plant you are growing.

This technique uses a water absorbent fabric to continuously water your plants. Some may consider this to be hydroponics, but this technique uses no electricity, no pumps, no air stones, no meters, no pH control, etc. It's just a simple, passive way to "sub-irrigate" the plants for a full season. Just add a few gallons of water once-a-week and add fertilizer every 3 to 4 weeks.
