You may not realize it, but Mendocino County (N. California) and the movies share a lot of history. Since 1904, over 50 major films and 40 television episodes have been filmed in this Northern California County. This video will take you through a small sampling of Mendocino County’s most critically acclaimed films and some of the history involved in their production.

This video is the research project of UC Berkeley undergraduate student Amaris L’Heureux. Amaris is studying Film and English at UC Berkeley and spent the summer in 2021 interning at the Historical Society of Mendocino County in Ukiah, California, where she concentrated her research on the history of film in the county.
