The goal of the BRICS has not only been approached in a talk-only manner; member nations such as China and Russia have engaged in intra-national trade as well as international trade with nations such as France, an EU member, using local currencies such as the Yuan and ruble.

The majority of people were excited to hear Russia's massive statement late last month that it will be introducing a new payment system that will involve over 159 countries worldwide, primarily poor nations.
