In this first instructional video we’ll show you how to properly remove and reinstall the Windshield Wiper Arm and blade on your Kalmar vehicle.
1. Ensure the wiper motor is in the park position. This can be done by operating the wiper switch to ON and then OFF to allow the drive to set at park.
2. Install the idler arm onto the idler shaft, street side, install hardware & tighten to torque (10-13 ft/lbs).
3. Install the driven arm onto the shaft, curb side, with the blade between 1.5” to 2” from its lowest point to the windshield rubber, on the curb side. Ensure that all of the over travel is taken up in the wiper system and be sure to recheck the blade clearance to windshield rubber.
Note: Both arms are spring loaded & the shafts and the arms must be aligned with the splines before tightening.
4. Install hardware on drive only enough to engage splines and prevent the arm from slipping on the shafts.
5. Repeat again with light pressure on the arm assembly to insure that all of the over travel is taken up in the wiper system and recheck the blade clearance to windshield rubber. Adjust as needed. Tighten the hardware to torque (10-13 ft/lbs).
6. Keep the windshield wet at all times for this step. Set the wiper speed to high and observe the blade pattern. It should not contact any part of the windshield rubber. If it does, simply adjust starting from step #3.
7. Retighten both drive and idler to 10-13 ft/lbs. Do so till they click
