Hide.me is a bit of an odd ball. It’s an overall good service but it’s not as popular as other VPN providers. In this hide.me review I’ll give you my honest opinion about this service.

Hide.me has a good starter pack - no logs policy, high-level encryption and they’re an independent company. But I’m not here to list the thing you can check out on their website. I’m here for something juicy.

The app/interface is easy to use. It has both - easy accessible basic settings and more advanced functionality in the further tabs. Overall the vpn app loads fast and connects to servers quite rapidly as well. No complaints from the usability standpoint.

They have over 75 locations that you can connect to. Which is not even close to how many servers they have. Why limit the functionality and limit users to only 75 available connections. Maybe hideme want the app to be simple to use and not overcrowd it with too many options. But here they really fall behind other providers for not allowing users to select a server manually.

On the other hand I never had a problem while using it, servers always seem to be up and I never experienced connection errors. You also have the option to select servers which are specifically tailored for accessing streaming services. These work great as well. Fast. Reliable. It just works.

All VPns seem to boast about their encryption. But fact is - most of the apps you’re already using have the same encryption built-in. VPN in itself isn’t a terribly complicated product so they don’t have a lot of material to work with when it comes to marketing. So they try to advertise every nook and cranny to make their product seem the best, most secure and most reliable of them all. However there isn’t a lot to complain about since hideme does use a good encryption algorithm so I’m just happy about that.

Why should you use/not use hide.me?

It doesn’t seem to have a higher renewal cost which makes it a cheaper VPN in the long term than some more popular options. Hideme doesn’t have aggressive marketing tactics and doesn’t try to sell itself for everyone’s grandma. App loads way faster than other VPNs and there are plenty of servers. If you just want a solid no BS VPN - it’s a great option.
