He sat by the fire and gazed out the window onto the frozen street below with its endless stream of tightly wrapped faces as they hurried past one another toward unknown destinations. Snow was falling gently as it always does and although the weather was kinder to the soot-covered city of Frostholm than most years the old man's bones and scars still ached. He didn't mind too much as some of those scars were the reminders of fond memories of a youth, long past, filled with adventure and travel. He smiled a bitter-sweet smile and shuffled his chair a little closer to the flames...
