There are a number of stories of Pre-Columbian crossings by Europeans to New World prior to 1492, some of them significantly so. In this short excerpt from our documentary "Codfish Heroes: Vikings, Basques and the Fishermen who Discovered America" we take a look at an obscure report of two Venetian merchants, Nicolo and Antonio Zeno, who teamed up with Knights Templar Master and Scottish hero Sir Henry Sinclair to maraud the Faroe and Shetland Islands as well as Greenland in the 1390's. It was here that they heard about a mysterious land to the West, from fishermen who had managed to return after being marooned among savage cannibals for decades. Keen to investigate, they made their way across, and their account was said to have been well known to later academics such as Toscanelli, who inspired not only John Cabot, but also Christopher Columbus himself to try and get to India by heading westwards across the Atlantic.
