A major storm referred to as a "bomb cyclone" made landfall in California on January 5, 2023. Extremely large seas mixed with a high tide was a bad combination for the quaint seaside village of Capitola. The wharf sustained serious damage as did many structures along the shoreline. Also seen in the drone video are the iconic, colorful Venetian Apartments.
