Joan Crawford (March 23, 1904 - May 10, 1977) was an American actress, known as the "Queen of Hollywood".

Starting her career with supporting roles in silent films, Crawford gradually asserted her position as an A-list Hollywood star with films such as "Dancing Lady" (1929), "Grand Hotel" (1932) and "Mildred Pierce". (1945), a role that earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress.

Crawford's career spans more than four decades and nearly 50 films. She is highly appreciated for her diverse acting ability, from romantic and humorous roles to tragic and thorny roles.

However, Crawford's life is also full of ups and downs and mysteries. She married and divorced several times, and had a complicated relationship with her daughter Christina Crawford, described in her controversial memoir "Mommie Dearest."
