Walking at night is great. But do you know what's better? Walking at night in the snow! So here's a video of Val d'Isere after dark in the middle of winter. While I can't simulate the feeling of getting a crepe before après ski activities, I hope you can experience some of the joy of walking around a snowy alpine village in the dark.

I had been meaning to record a video of Val d'Isere at night from the first day I arrived. But it was as cold as -17 Celsius for the first few nights, and the operating temperature of my equipment doesn't support temperatures below -10. The nights became more mild toward the end of the week, though, which allowed me to record this. I took a similar route to that on the first day, with a few diversions and a focus on the village's urban centre.

I recorded this once I'd mostly finished packing and it was a nice way to say goodbye to a place I liked a lot. I hope to go back over the next few years and get some video of Tignes and some of the pedestrian areas higher up the mountain — but this time with snowshoes.
