Why is Surah Ikhlas so Powerful? | Nouman Ali Khan | Surah Ikhlas | Islamic Lectures Reminders Quran

Surah Ikhlas is one of the most significant and important surahs (chapters) of the Holy Qur’an. It is the 112th surah of the Qur’an, and is composed of four verses. It is also known as “Qul Huwallaahu Ahad”, which is the opening phrase of the surah.

Surah Ikhlas is a short but powerful surah and is often referred to as the “Heart of the Qur’an” due to its importance and significance. This surah is a very concise and succinct expression of the fundamental Islamic concept of Tawheed (the Oneness of God). It is also the most commonly recited surah in the daily prayer (Salat), and is often used as an invocation for spiritual healing and protection.

The surah begins by declaring the absolute oneness of Allah: “Say, He is Allah, the One”. This is followed by a declaration of Allah’s indivisibility and uniqueness: “Allah, the Eternal Refuge”. The third verse of the surah then describes the attributes of Allah: “He neither begets nor is He begotten”. Finally, the fourth verse of the surah describes Allah’s absolute independence and self-sufficiency: “And there is none like unto Him”.

These four verses of Surah Ikhlas succinctly encapsulate the core Islamic belief of Tawheed, which is the belief in the absolute Oneness of Allah. This is expressed in the Islamic shahadah (declaration of faith): “I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah”. The shahadah is the cornerstone of Islamic faith and is a declaration of absolute belief in Allah and His Oneness, as expressed in Surah Ikhlas.

Surah Ikhlas is also known as the “Surah of Purity”, because it is a reaffirmation of the absolute purity of Allah. The surah declares that Allah is absolutely free from all imperfections and blemishes, and is perfect in every way. This reinforces the concept of Tawheed, which is the belief in the absolute unity of Allah and His perfection.

Surah Ikhlas also has a powerful spiritual significance, as it is believed to bring protection from all kinds of harm and evil. It is often recited at the beginning of a prayer, and is also used as an invocation for spiritual healing. It is believed that reciting this surah will bring about a spiritual purification and protection from all kinds of harm and evil.

The importance of Surah Ikhlas cannot be overstated, as it encapsulates the very core of Islamic belief in the absolute unity and perfection of Allah. It is also a powerful invocation for spiritual protection and healing, and is often recited in the daily prayers. For these reasons, Surah Ikhlas is one of the most significant and meaningful surahs of the Qur’an, and is a cornerstone of Islamic belief.
